Each year Dale Chihuly interprets one or more of his series and offers this collectible glass through museums and galleries across the country. Its undeniable success after the first few years prompted the continued expansion of the collection and number of locations where it is available. Each Studio Edition is hand-blown by Chihuly's team to his specifications as to its shape and style. Due to the process involved in handblowing, each individual piece varies in color, size, and shape. Chihuly signs each Studio Edition and in the case of a set, signs only the smallest piece. The Studio Editions are not limited in number but are retired after several years.
