"As a product of growing up on a sailboat, I was taught how to tie and weave rope. Later when I was attending college, I also learned how to produce and design costumes. Sewing and weaving are integral processes in my work. The simplicity of the rhythmic actions of these procedures and the strength that is derived from such repetition helps me translate the intellectual to the physical."
