Biographical Information

David Leight is currently attending Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva, NY. He plans to graduate in 2004 with a BA in psychology and a minor in studio art. In the summer of 1999, David attended the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA. There he studied under Rochester Institute of Technology professor, Mark Taylor and learned many artistic approaches to hot glass, such as casting and blowing; the formal classroom training primarily focused on the labor of cold glasswork. Cold glasswork is the process of cutting, polishing, and/or gluing glass together. The process is done on plate glass or with cold blown pieces needing their final touch. From this experience David developed a unique style of cutting and sculpting with plate glass. After graduation, David plans to pursue his career as a glass artist and expand into the art community of Northern California.
