"These works began as an attempt to expand my vocabulary of form. My goal was to develop the blown vessel by using cold processes to accentuate, and eventually determine, the final shape. Elements of design in the work stem directly from applications of off-hand glassblowing and cold-working techniques. Color is a key element in my work, and relationships of contrasting and complimentary colors are used to emphasize the shape of the vessel. I am constantly experimenting with my work, trying to innovate and develop new forms." — Michael Hernandez
