"It's a human instinct to decorate ones environment. My work explores this trait, especially the use of pattern. Textiles, architecture, industrial design and nature all influence me. I start with wax vessels that have very simple silhouettes so the shape doesn't compete with the patterns I add by using incising, application or cage technique. Some pieces are solely decorative, but others evolve into statements that describe the essence of an object, character, emotion or movement."
