Bako earned her BFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2002. In addition, she has studied at the Harrachov Glass School (Czech Republic) and has received scholarships to study at the Penland School of Crafts and Pilchuck Glass School. Most recently Bako completed the Emerging Artist in Residency at Pilchuck Glass School. She has exhibited in both the United States and Europe and her work can currently be seen at the American Glass Museum at Wheaton Village. Bako works at Pratt Fine Arts Center as the glass studio supervisor and coldworking instructor.
