ARTIST STATEMENT
I am dedicated to designing objects that function and are crafted by hand.
Glass is a versatile medium, and it speaks most clearly to me as something that can be used to make things that people can use. I am a practical person and a literal thinker; my work is intentional and has physical purpose. In addition, the material allows for colorful designs and technical pursuits, both of which inspire me to create. The world around me is my inspiration, most prominently the weather, crayons, and objects and tools that I use everyday.
As our world becomes more electronic, mechanical and disposable, I strive to bring hand-made interest and sustainability to otherwise mundane practical objects. I believe that people using objects that other people make by hand keeps us in touch with each other.
