Anthony Schafermeyer and Claire kelly create their work as a team. Their designs are an intricate adaptation of the Venetian cane technique. The cane (or stripes) are produced by pulling colored glass into long rods. These are cooled, cut to size and then reassembled onto a ceramic plate. The plate is heated and the glass rods fuse together as they get hot. The resulting sheet of glass is rolled up onto a glassblowing pipe and shaped into its final form.
"The philosophy of our work is to acheive a basic movement and harmony that reveals itself when pattern, color and form are in agreement. Out inimitable glass vessels are the result of our combination of specialized talents and the realization of our vision."
