Reed Slater prefers to think of himself as a colorist. Fluidity, sensuality, and grace are governing concerns. He tries to use his vessels and shapes to capture the play of light, and evoke an emotion in the viewer.
"To me, a sucessful work of art is able to stop time. It allows the viewer to turn off their internal dialogue and feast with their eyes. With the mounting horrors catalogued in our daily papers, we now more than ever need the respite that art can offer.
