The neo-geometric compositions of Carmen Vetter's kilnformed glass panels are designed to explore the interplay between opposites, highlighting the relationship between positive and negative space and exploring the subtle shifts in tone as light gives way to shadow across their textured surfaces.
The simple, yet powerful, shapes and forms that make up Vetter's compositions come to her, fully formed, as recurring imagery in her sketches and studies. Contrary to the desire of many artists working in a minimalist style to purge their work of metaphor, Vetter's curvilinear designs carry deep personal meaning and are intended to communicate with the viewer, through form and color, on a direct, emotional level.
