Canadian glass artist Sarah Mulligan has been a glassblower for over 10 years, in which time she has worked for herself and with other Canadian glass artists in designing, manufacturing and selling blown glass across Canada.
After completing her BA in Philosophy from the University of Western Ontario, Sarah decided to change direction and enrolled into the Interior Design program at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. However, a wrong turn down a hallway landed her in Sheridan's: School of Craft and Design where she discovered the hot glass studio and that day changed programs. Three years later in the spring of 1999, she graduated from the SOCAD glass program and received the Special Faculty Award for excellence in glass. In the summer of 2005, she left Ontario for the west coast and now resides and works in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
A body of work which spans a wide range of functional objects; from marbles to jewelry, vases, bowls, glasses, terrariums, and aquarium sculptures. In all her work there a consistent thread of simple design, clean lines, attention to detail and a commitment to craftsmanship is present. Sarah continues to create glasswork that is both subtle and contemporary.
